I have one confession to make just before this Valentine’s Day, that you’ll never find me in a full red outfit on this day or any other given day for that matter. It’s just that, I’m not very fond of the colour red, when it comes to outfits. I do have a lot of footwear, bags and accessories in red though. I’m simply not that person who would paint the town in red, just because it is Valentine’s Day. For me every day is a day I celebrate love, be it friends or family, I don’t need a reason to express my love, neither do I really need a special day, to pamper them wit gifts.
So this post is going to give you an idea, of the outfit I plan to wear this Valentine’s Day. Yes it is Blue and Yes it is printed! No surprises there! Since we are already witnessing warm weather in Bangalore, I say we have already transitioned to Spring/Summer. But still there is a cool breeze in the air early in the morning, that is very inherent to Bangalore’s weather; which I’ve been witnessing for the last 25+ years. So this look is definitely a transition look, where you will still see an outer layer to keep you warm in the cool breeze, while the other layers are playful and light. So should you feel warm at any point of time, you can shed the outer layer and do away with just the other 2 light layers.
Styling Note:
The Idea was to mix prints, with a little bit of Leather, giving the look a gypsy vibe. So, the Bandhani prints were my first choice, in order to capture the Indian Gypsy vibe. A thing to note is that this is not the cotton Bandhani / tie-dye material but the Satin one that has just the Bandhani / tie-dye Prints on it. The material is very fluid and easy to manage and perfect to capture the maxi top trend. So, I got the Bandhani material custom-made to a Maxi top to fit me perfectly, paired with a white velvet legging the outfit is perfect for a transition into Spring / Summer season where these 2 layers are light yet will keep you warm. Since there still is a chill in the air here in Bangalore, the addition of a Faux-leather jacket was surely called for. The footwear I paired here was a white one with silver animal Prints, it sure gives the look a very urban casual and laid-back feel
There has to be bling factor in the outfit if I’m talking about giving the outfit a Gypsy feel, hence the trinkets in Silver that completed the look. I picked this three layer sterling silver necklace, which I had purchased on my shopping spree, during one of my travels to Jaipur. The sterling silver rings were purchased during one of my several Goa Retreat Visits during the past years.

I hope this refreshing and experimental Valentine’s day look gave you an idea that you need not stick to the reds and pinks all the time for the VDay. And that experimenting can be fun for a change, and this look is definitely not for the hight-street fashionista, but for those non-conformists like me, who are ready to experiment even on occasions that call for chic dressing. The main intention was to bring in my style influence that is inherently Indian to light, and show you how it could be turned into an Urban Chic one, even while dressing for romantic holidays like these. AWESOME STYLE AND COLOUR CHOISE
Lovely outfit… You looks so pretty! Gorgeous in indian gypsy look!
I love reds and pinks on valentines day. I like experiment with different hues and shades of the traditional colour and mix them up with something unexpected. Plus red is such a sexy colour.
Lovely outfit! It’s always best to let your own style shine through. 🙂
nice outfit! i think you look good in blue! i’m not a fan of wearing red too!
I like your breaking of the tradition to not wear something red or pink like a lot of girls do for Valentine’s. I wear black a lot so I do the same thing every year, haha.
Your outfit looks lovely, i also love to wear this print mainly in summers.

I love the outfit! You don’t need to do the usual red for Valentine’s. Its cliche
I am a huge fan of red when it comes to dresses but on the other hand I don’t want to paint town red just because its valentines day. I love your whole attire. The way you paired everything up,is definitely a bounty for eyes 🙂
I like the color red but never felt comfortable to wear! I would rather prefer a blue for valentines 😏
