The Next Post in the Yoga series is a variation to one of the basic Yogasana stances, called the  Virabhadrasana 2 or Warrior Pose 2 called the Urdhva Virabhadrasana 2, where Urdhva means Upward. We have already discussed about the Virabhadrasana 1 pose, and this one is a continuation from the first pose with an additional variation to it. Here is how you attain the Virabhadrasana 2 pose and later move to Urdhva Virabhadrasana:

  • From Virabhadrasana 1, exhale and bring your hands to either sides keeping it parallel to your feet
  • Inhale and Face your right side
  • Exhale, bending your knee go down as much as you can
  • Inhale in the pose and slowly bring your right hand next to your right ear and bend backwards
  • Exhale and look towards the sky
  • Stay in this pose for a 3 counts and slowly release back to Tadasana
  • Repeat the the same on the right side

Cautions while practicing Urdhva Virabhadrasana 2

It’s always best to practice any yoga pose with a trained professional

  • Do not practice this pose are suffering from High blood pressure
  • If you do have Neck problems: Don’t turn your head to look towards the sky; continue to look straight ahead with both sides of the neck lengthened evenly.
  • If you have had a recent surgery it is best to ask your doctor before you pracitce Yoga

  • Stretches the legs and ankles while strengthening it too
  • Stimulates organs in your abdominal region
  • Stretches the upper body i.e. the chest and lungs, shoulders

  1. Hi Chaicy, I am visiting your blog for the first time and I love your posts. I have been addicted to yoga as well. I have done basic yoga, hot yoga, power yoga and pilates. Planning to try Yin yoga and body balance next.

  4. i stopped working out totally for slightly more than a month and i went back to hot yoga just yesterday and i felt so sick after that! i don’t think it’s the yoga though, must be the heat. 🙁
