Year 2015 brought in quite a few changes on my blog, one being the focus on Yoga posts. Since I did learn Yoga during my school days, and have been practicing it on a daily basis for a long time now, I thought it would be great to share the same with my readers. In case you did miss the Yoga posts I published previously, then here is a recap of the same. Just click on the image and it will take you to the post.
1. King Pigeon Pose or Eka Paada Raajakapotasana
‘Eka Paada Raajakapotasana’ i.e., ‘One Legged King Pigeon Pose’. (Eka = One, Paada = Foot/ Leg, Raajakapota = King Pigeon, Aasana = Pose). I’d recommend this pose for those who are well versed with the basic of Yoga stances and are ready to move on to a little more demanding stances / poses. For more click on the image below
2. Acro Yoga – Front Bird Pose
Acro Yoga is a holistic combination of Acrobatics and Yoga, usually done by two or more people; it requires quite a lot of strength and balance than for normal Yoga practice. Featured here is a pose known as the ‘The Front Bird Pose’ that imitates a bird in flight, it is one of the basic poses that put your balance and stamina to test. Click on the image below for more:
Utthita Parsvakonasana is a Yoga pose where, you lean on one of the sides of your body and then extend your arms to get a full stretch. You pronounce it as – oo-THEE-tah parsh-vah-cone-AHS-ana)
utthita = extended; parsva = side, flank; kona = angle and aasana = pose. For more click on the image below:
Virabhadrasana is a sequence of poses, that commemorates the exploits of a brave warrior named Virabhadra. Virabhadrasana in English roughly translates to Warrior Pose (Virabhadra = brave warrior + aasana = pose). Click on the image below for more:
Vriksha in Sanskrit translates to Tree and asana means pose, this pose imitates a tree standing tall. Click on the image below for more:
Bhujangasana, pronounced as BHU-jung-AAHS-uh-nuh; Bhujang translates to Snake (Cobra); Asana means Posture or Pose; . So this pose resembles a snake with a raised hood. For more click on the image below:
Ardha Anuvittasana or the standing backbend pose, is the first pose in Suryanamaskara. The sanskrit word Anuvittasana does not translate well into English. So, let’s just say that this pose is essentially a backward half-bend done while in Tadasana. For more click on the image below:
8. Paschima Namaskarasana or Backward Prayer pose
Paschima Namaskaraasana or the Reverse Prayer Pose. Pashchima = West, refers to the back of the body, Namaskara = greeting. For more click on the image below:
9. Butterfly Stretch or Titliasana
The Butterfly stretch for the lower half of your body. Also known as ‘Purna Titali Aasana’, where ‘Purna’ means ‘Complete’, ‘Titali’ means ‘Butterfly’. In this pose the legs spread out imitate the outstretched wings of the Butterfly in flight. For more click on the image below
10. Utkata Konasana or Goddess Pose
The goddess pose is essentially to stretch the lower half of your body, where as the forward bend is to stretch your upper half. For more click on the image below:

Chaicy, I think it’s wonderful that you share the yoga poses… I have no balance, I need to start with simple ones that can help me start getting balance xox ♡
Launna, I’m glad that you feel that way! The ones I shared are basics and also help you with balance issues. If you could just do one or to easy ones out of this list. It’s enough 🙂
Nice photos, I also love yoga, it really makes me comfort 🙂
