I was surfing through Instagram (as usual) to find some great pictures.. to get inspired.. to get to know designers around me! And there … I found this lovely ‘Diamante’ Print Pleated Skirt in cotton posted by Ankita Bajaj from her Label – ‘The Sewing Machine’ that was oh.. sooo… Prettyy. I then went through her website which had such lovely creations; that I couldn’t stop from sharing it with y’all! What intrigued me was her ability to mix Indian prints with that of Western Silhouettes with such ease!
Here’s what she had to say about her Label – ‘The Sewing Machine’ and her creations:
We started as a Brand & Marketing Consulting team for Apparel designers & boutiques that stock such designers. I am still working with 5 such designers & 25 such boutiques right now. Then moved onto being a blogger- focusing on Fashion & Lifestyle.
Now, I have launched a clothing line with the tag THE SEWING MACHINE. The Idea is to make clothes/trends that are either not available easily/affrodable or are based on popular trends with a twist.
My first garment comes from my love for Pure Cotton with Hand Block Print. It’s a mix of the Ethnic print in a western style midi skirt. Twist is: Replace the box Pleated midi skirt in Polyster/Dupion into something more pure: Pure Cotton. Our love for cotton mixed with a new trend of Ballroom Skirts has brought alive this piece.
Style Tip: Team it with a black crop-top or a halter or a racer-back. To give a classic touch team with a plain black tee & wrap a stole around your neck. Or wear a statement neckpiece.
2. Hand-Block Print PURE Cotton Straight Palazzo. It has a pretty detailing at the bottom and little beads on a contrast waistband.
Style Tip: Team it with a crop-top/halter/racer-back of any colour. If you are feeling bold, wear it with an Indian choli :):)
3. Georgette Palazzo with a pretty pretty PUPPET print. My love for Rajasthan is the seed for this one.
Style Tip: Team it with a crop-top/halter/racer-back of any colour.
