Valentine’s day is around the corner, the liturgical romantic holiday, where you are expected to dress up and express your love in indulgent ways. Where you see Cupid and Hearts and bows everywhere, ceilings of Red Balloons everywhere, while everyone paints the town in Red. Did you know the first ever ‘self-proclaimed Valentines’ were the early Christian Martyrs’, who would sign off their letters, to their loved ones as ‘Your Valentine’ while bidding farewell. And, that’s how the phrase ‘Will You be my Valentine” came to being. History has it, that the 18th Century England is when this holiday evolved, into an occasion where lovers expressed their unconditional love by either simple flowers or extravagant gems. While the other side of Europe celebrated the day by presenting a ‘Key’ as a romantic gesture to unlock the giver’s heart.
While we mortals here on the other side of the World are thinking of what to wear this Valentine’s Day? How about for a change, you switch to wearing a romantic saree? We do know that saree is sensuous and elegant at the same time, remember those Chiffon Sarees from Bolloywood movies with their ever-so-long pallu that keeps flying in the wind at any given point of the song you can think of. However, we never think of it as an attire for Valentine’s Day. I know my Mom does, ‘coz she wears it almost every day, but us the younger broods wouldn’t even think as we consider it as an Indian Ethnic wear only. But, I’d like to change that!

This post revisits those fly away romantic Chiffon Saree in Blue, that I’ve witnessed growing up in the KJo Dramaebaaz Movies.. yeahh.. that’s what I call them now (Although not a big fan of his movies anymore, growing up we had no choice when it came to movies, Yeah?!) The Styling is kept simple again, paired with a simple dull gold blouse and a blue Jhumkas made of Terracotta. The Fuchsia lipstick gives the outfit a pop of colour and the blue bindi completes the whole look. I hope you loved this bollywood inspired look for the Valentine’s day.
