Blue & Polki

While I’m recovering from the Diwali hangover and post Diwali blues, I still can’t get enough of the Indian ethnic wear this festive season. Although, the great Indian festive season has come to an end, the wedding season hasn’t. I’m sure that we all still have at least 1 friend getting married within the next one month, I know I do, three of them to be specific. But, how about reinventing our Indian wear and giving it a contemporary twist for the wedding season this time? Just to get out of the box, for once take a break from wearing those sarees, or even the traditional lehenga-choli;  try something with a twist.

How about trying one with a contemporary take, on the ethnic Lehenga-Choli? I particularly loved this number in midnight blue, by the talented designer Nidhika Shekhar. The metallic details on the choli/ blouse give a very art-deco feel to the outfit, whereas  the fishtail silhouette and the pleats makes it look like a contemporary take on the traditional saree. Simple, yet elegant at the same time, perfect for a cocktail Sangeet or a Post-wedding Reception party.

To add the necessary bling to the outfit, I accessorized it with a single stranded polki and uncut diamond necklace & earring set by Kirtilals, which is again simple yet chic. This style of jewelry gives any outfit an understated modern twist, its 4 diamond drop earring, syncs well with that art-deco styled embellished blouse. I didn’t want to add anything heavier, as it would have over-shadowed the outfit. Keeping it simple and elegant is what makes it all look perfect, At least according to me, since my way of styling involves simple elegance.  Those beige stiletto heel pumps, with slight details at the heel completes the whole look.
