Smiling is a beautiful habit. It’s not just the happy feelings that can bring a smile; rather a smile brings happy feelings. Do you agree, that people who smile a lot, are the most attractive ones? The more you smile, the more you will love smiling. It is that contagious! A smile has got a positive emotional impact, and therefore smiling produces happy feelings. Smiling triggers the release of “happy hormones”- endorphin to the brain; and when the brain “feels happy,” it creates happy positive feelings for you.
I understand that smiling every day in every situation may seem difficult; but a simple smile (real or forced) can brighten your day. After all, it is known as the world’s most powerful gesture! Therefore, to continue feeling happy, one must practice smiling every day – even if life isn’t that perfect! Let those happy emotions live in your life, and bring you more happiness, good health, and stress free living.
Simply make a decision to smile a little each day – and do it any way! “Fake it till you make it.”
Smiling more often throughout your day, may require some practice; especially when you have had bad days or, when you feel like you don’t want to smile! Practice these simple steps for smiling more often, and ultimately you will become happier and healthier.
- Look in the mirror and try to turn the corners of your mouth upwards, like as if you are creating a semicircle with your mouth. Continue expanding the corners upwards until you feel you cheeks getting bigger (I learned this trick from one of the books of my favorite author). I love trying this, as I can catch a glimpse of my smile.
- Spend time with people who are happy and cheerful by nature.
- Watch funny videos.
- Play with a baby or young children.
- Laugh at yourself reminiscing about a funny moment in your life. Often tell it to your friends, kids or any person you like sharing some lighter moments with.
Laugh, smile and create good happy feelings for yourself and for others who make a part of your life. You are the only person who can make you happy. So practice being a healthier happier person in real life…and continue wearing a smile. Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
