Let me be very honest, I have used a few makeup removers but they always sting and leave my sensitive skin irritated. They never easily swipe waterproof mascara and some times the lipstick stain on my lip is visible too. Until, one day I found this magical Clinique Makeup remover for lids, lashes and lips that has a spill proof cover, perfect for someone who travels a lot like I do.
Claims as per website :
For all skin types. Ophthalmologist Tested.
Totally tug-less, two-way makeup remover speeds the departure of hard-to-remove eye and lip makeups. Dissolves and “lifts away” long-wearing makeup, even waterproof mascara. Non-irritating, non-stinging.
Let’s see how it fared in the test, shall we?
A few swatches of 1) Eye Shadow, 2) Lipstick 3) Kajal/ Eye Pencils in 2 shades and 4) Waterproof Mascara
I took just a dab of the remover on a cotton and swiped it on the swatch. The first swipe without pressure did remove the eye shadows and lipstick, but you can still see the eye pencils and waterproof mascara faintly. Where as the second swipe did clean it without a trace. I didn’t have to put a lot of pressure too.
- Allergy tested, so it Indeed works on sensitive skin types too
- Multi-use, it removes just about any cosmetic
- No fragrance
- Spill proof packaging makes it travel friendly
- Will not suit oily skin, as it has an oily base
- Pricey of course, at INR 1891 for a 125 ml bottle.
- It took me a while to figure out a way to easily remove the spill proof cap
- It might leave you with blurry eyes, if you use too much of it because of the oil in it.
- It’s tested on animals 🙁
Verdict: I’d recommend Clinique Makeup Remover to anyone who is okay, with spending more than usual and wouldn’t recommend the same for Oily skin beauties. Since I have a combination skin, I avoid using on the T-Zone of my face and use it sparsely on my cheeks to remove blush and foundation. It’s multi-utilitarian nature works well on stubborn foundation & waterproof mascara too, while the spill proof cap/ package makes it travel friendly. I’m still finding a way to get it at a better price in India though, for I’m not ready to spend so much on a makeup remover. Do let me know if you have tried this one.
